Notification preferences

How to manage which emails PrivateStay sends you.

PrivateStay sends email notifications for various events. You can control which notifications you receive from Account → Email Preferences.

Available preferences

There are four categories you can control. Booking updates covers anything to do with reservations — confirmations, approvals, declines, and status changes. Messages sends you an email when you receive a new direct message from a host or guest. Follow updates notifies you when someone requests access to your property, or when a host has reviewed your own access request. Broadcasts are bulk messages sent by property owners to all their approved followers — you can opt out of these without missing anything personal.

Default state

All preferences are enabled by default. You will receive all notification types unless you actively opt out.

Updating your preferences

  1. Go to Account → Email Preferences (available without logging in via the unsubscribe link in any email)
  2. Toggle each preference on or off
  3. Changes are saved immediately

Unsubscribing from a specific email

Every notification email from PrivateStay contains an Unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it takes you directly to your email preferences page, where you can turn off that category. You do not need to be logged in to use the unsubscribe link.

What happens when you opt out

If you opt out of a notification type:

  • You will not receive those emails
  • You will still receive other types of emails you have not opted out of
  • Messages and booking activity are still stored inside PrivateStay — you can check them by logging in

Note

Some system emails — such as password reset and account verification — are not affected by notification preferences. These are always sent.

No marketing emails

Every email PrivateStay sends you is triggered by something that happened — a booking update, a new message, a follow request. There are no newsletters or marketing emails separate from the preferences above.
